From the industries of Jurong to the marshes of Mandai and to the hills of Bukit Timah, cycling has become my favourite way of exploring. I love going on adventures and exploring new places, so when I realised the potential of cycling, I never looked back. Reaching my destination, usually a park or nature reserve, after a long and breathtaking journey is the most rewarding thing you can feel. I'd recommend cycling to absolutely anyone!

"It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to."

While wandering on Google Earth, I came across a tall cliff in Bukit Gombak. At the time, I was under the impression that Singapore was mostly developed cityscape, so to see a natural looking cliff was a surprise. I was drawn to it, I spent the next few weeks cycling further than I had ever cycled before, step by step. Until finally, one day I made the distance and found Little Guilin, a beautiful cliffside overseeing a pond. From then on, I went on more and more journeys, exploring further and further from home, discovering more and more things. From then on, cycling became a part of who I am.

I have a few favourite adventures. A quite notable one may be the time I challenged myself to cycle to the end of the Kranji PC, which I had not been to yet, and back home before 11am. I quickly got ready and left around 7.45, starting from my home in Jurong West, I rode off to Chinese Garden where I went north by Bukit Batok Road, passing Tengah and Choa Chu Kang. I reached Bukit Panjang and went along the Pang Sua Canal until I reached Sungei Kadut. I crossed the road to the Kranji PC and cycled to the end, where there was not much but a pleasant view of the reservoir and a glimpse of JB. I then raced back the way I came, reaching home before 11am, and before most of my family woke up.

Currently, I have a few things on my bucket list. Here is a table showing the distances to them:
Destination Rounded Distance (km) Estimated Duration (hr)
Yishun 30 >3
Bukit Merah 20 2
NYP >30 3>
Sentosa 25 >3
Lim Chu Kang 15 >3
JB City Square >30 3 to 5 (depends on jam)

I learnt how to cycle at a young age, but I did not have my own bike so I never had the chance to practice. Recently, I've gained a new found interest for cycling. I've cycled around my neighbourhood and town, and I will only get better from here. I recommend cycling to whoever is interesting in spending time outside.

“A bicycle is the finest mode of transport known to man.”

When I was young, I learnt how to cycle by myself. But I outgrew my small bike, so I lost interest in cycling altogether. But when my mom bought me a new bike for my birthday, I suddenly felt the desire to go cycling again. After a lot of practice, I was cycling through town. I only cycle every once a week or so, but its good for getting out of the house and taking a break.

My favourite ride has to be when I cycled to Coney Island. There was a lot of greenery and good views of the strait. It was very fun, highly recommend!

Maybe Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park or Coney Island.
